In Monday’s class, we have talked about how we should be getting a new point of view towards our own essays to make them better. Since all of our teammates and a few of the friends had checked them, we needed a fair new point of view to improve our essay. I strongly agreed to this for that new pair of eyes can spot new mistakes or improvements.
In order to do this, Mr. Paterson told the class to paired up with someone who you think is opposite of you, or is very different from you so that they will give you a complete new point of view. I paired up with Ryo, and we looked at each other’s essay, making comments and spotting grammatical, and informative errors. We also used the checklist to make sure what is expected is presented in the essay. I came to find out that I still had so many mistakes in terms of explaining the incident. Having my essay being checked, I was able to realize the mistakes and point to improve. In terms of checking other’s essay was quite difficult for me. Most of the points I wanted to point out was already pointed out by Mr. Paterson. I mainly told him about the style and format of the text, through the checklist.
Today’s lesson meant a lot to me, for that I was able to get things checked up by a new pair of eyes, allowing me to also get a new view point. Since I thought that this is a good idea, I would like to use them in the future too, whenever I am to submit essays.
