Being reintroduced to the websites where we can check readability and AWL socred on Tuesday's lesson, I was able to know my level of writing as a statistic. Tuesday's lesson was mainly about coming back to our essays and rechecking them so that we are acknowledged of our mistakes, improvements, weaknesses and strength, along with accurate information of how we can write proper essays.
We first started off with looking at every member's essays one by one and tried to identify the reasons why Mr. Paterson had marked them in red. Although the Wifi was not working as good as Monday's lesson, by around mid-half of the lesson, we were able to access the documents. We identified both the grammatical errors and the presentation of the essay, using the checklist on the google group. By using the checklist, we knew exactly what we did wrong, wishing that we had this when we first had written the essay. Then we moved onto using those websites. I went onto the websites called Analyze My Writing, which I checked the readability of my essay. We were explained that we should have around 9, whereas I got 12. I was quite shocked by the fact my scores were not as bad as I expected them to be. I also checked lextutor.com for the AWL grades after changing bits and pieces. I got almost the same level as last time, which allowed me to know that I can use such vocabularies.
Through today's lesson, we were able to reflect on our own performances and understand the level of our writing skills. Since we know them, we can now think of ways to fix them in order to improve them further.
