Was I able to notice the gorilla?

The lesson on Monday started off with a video, which we were told to count the number of times people wearing white pass the basketball. I was doing my task then. However, I was too focused onto it, that I didn't realize there was a "gorilla" at all! I was even a little uncertain about the fact there was a gorilla there. Then, after the video was over, when I looked at the video as a whole picture, and finally realized that there was a gorilla in the very visible place. From this activity, It was easy to tell that I am a type of person who goes into one thing too much and that I do not notice anything else when I am focused on just one thing. From this video, we have learned that focusing on one thing will only make us miss the other information that is necessary.

Coming back to our writing task, today, Mr.Paterson pulled up some of the essays from the class and talked about the errors that could be improved. A lot of the people made mistakes on sweeping generalisation and the "person" they use as a form of writing(such as first person, third person, etc). Individually, I thought the fact we cannot use questions to grab people's attention is a difficult thing, since, in many of my previous essays, I used questions as an attention grabber. I thought that I must find solutions for problems as such.

Overall, I thought that I must be able to identify the gorillas in my essay by taking a third perspective, but also ask my teammates to identify them for me too.
