On Tuesday's class, Mr Paterson gave us a "lesson". I felt like it had been ages since the last time we had this type of lesson format where Mr.Paterson was talking and us listening. We had learned about what to do and what we should not do in our essays in depth. We were first introduced to a website that is on the google groups. In Term 1, I had myself skim through most of the websites that were on the list. However, I haven't read them that carefully, which allowed me a deeper understanding this time.
The website was by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. We went through them one by one. Most of the things that were explained were something that was new to me. Except for one thing. "red-herring". I had heard this before when I was in the school abroad when we did story writing. It surprised me quite a lot that this method is effective for both story writing and academic essays.
Honestly speaking, I like working collaboratively or thinking ourselves to do something rather than just sitting and learning through listening. I am acknowledged that these are efficient, yet I cannot bring myself to have fun through them. I am looking forward to do more activities in the process...
