29th of October was our first presentation day. Just like how we were told, two teams were chosen to present. The teams were;
Ayato, Haruto, Muto's team
Momoko, Ryosei, Chisaki, Runa's team (our team)
We first listened to Ayato, Haruyo, Muto’s team’s presentation. I thought their presentations were good as they had a clear point that they want to make, and had a structure that is very easy to understand, following a lot of the rules we learnt in class. They gave us some real-life examples, which helped us understand their topic in depth. However, from their presentation and the comments by Mr.Paterson, we had learnt that we must not make grammatical mistakes, walk silently, and get the clear picture of the incident when we present to someone. Since this was the very first presenter from our class, there should be a lot of things where we can learn from.
Then it was our turn. Honestly speaking, I did not think that we would have to do it on day 1. Although by now, I feel that I was lucky to get it over with, at the time, I was as nervous as I could ever be, as it was something we had worked on for ages and was something we were putting quite a lot of effort on. I think I was okay at grabbing people's attention, I think I was okay in terms of concluding the presentation. However, what I could have done better was to rehearse like the actual one beforehand. I did take time as a group to discuss how the slides look on screen, however, we did not get full time to rehearse in front of the screen. Due to this, I came to realize that the light from the projector comes right into your eyes during the presentation. This lead to myself moving quickly from one end to another end, not knowing what to do. Just like this, there were multiple points I think that I could have improved, but I'll write them all up when we get the scores back. At the current moment, all I can do is to reflect back on my own performance and marks. Half scared, half excited.
I do admit that this task was not easy, and was something that leaves me with regret, but I do also admit that it taught me the best way to present. Since we do face a lot of situation to present in this school, learning about something like this was a very helpful thing. Now I feel like I am a better presenter. By doing the presentation myself, I knew that I will continue to utilize this in other presentation chances sometime in the future too. I think I was lucky to be able to have a chance like this to learn the basic.
