Group Presentation

In the lesson on Sep. 10th, we mainly learned about what a good voice is and how to succeed in group presentations. Both topics were very interesting to me as I got to learn things I wasn't very aware of before.

In terms of voice, we must change our tones, add stress and/or have a good pose. In addition to what we learned about what a good presentation structure is, "voice" is the next thing that separates whether the presentation is memorable and interesting to listen. I found the fact that "we should look up to the comedians if we want to learn good posing" most interesting. This is because it was very true that funny comedians are always utilizing poses very well. After having Mr.Paterson's lesson, I realized that I talk in a flat tone, especially when I am nervous. I must get used to not panic when I talk in front of a group of audience, otherwise, I would never even get to think about things such. I am not very sure if this is possible, but if we can have more chances to "practice presenting" before the actual presentation, it would be very appreciated since I can be more confident by improving my skills.

Group presentations were just like essays. There is introduction, middle and summary+conclusion. Although I have experiences doing group presentations previously, I do not think I was able to choose the role according to each member's characteristic. Deciding the roles in the group weren't easy as well. We had Momoko as a new member, so we could not really tell how we should divide up the role, however, the roles can be divided up by Ryosei, Chisaki and I, so we still got some time to think about what role Momoko should play.

I may have written this in other blog posts but I do think to learn what a "good presentation" is, is very important and will be useful in the future. This is something where we can make a difference compared to other people, and is also a shortcut to success. I felt I was lucky to be able to learn what a great presentation is.
