Continuing from the last class, we again went over the process of how to become a good presenter. In the first half of the lesson, we learned about the smaller details to consider to become good presenters; audience analysis, venue/room check, cables/connectors, and equipment familiarity.
Audience analysis is about knowing what the audience know, and what we should talk about to them. Room check is checking the lights, screens, speakers, etc in order to set up smoothly when it is your turn. Equipment familiarity is important not to cause any trouble while trying to complete the presentation. To me, audience analysis would be difficult as I have never handled a large audience before as much. Regarding the content of the presentation, there was a rule called 3H rules where "High quality", "High quantity", "Help achieve aims" information is to be gathered to be put in the presentation. I should keep this rule as I sometimes go off topic.
In the second half of the lesson, we learnt about more of the psychological way of having a better time. Most of the names sound quite difficult, however, most of the rules were quite simple, easy to understand and easy to follow. First thing is called segmentation theory. This is basically about the audiences' attention slowly decrease time by time. In order to avoid audiences' attention high, we could use some of the WOW factors, which is keeping the clear memory through producing dopamine. I found out that I do like the way Steve Jobs talked, so I would like to set his as my goal, to improving even by little by little. I was astonished by this, as I used to think science and English are nowhere connecting to each other. Mr.Paterson also taught how to start the presentation.
From the first week since the school rebegan, I got to know so much about effective presentations. I really want to be able to speak like Mr.Paterson does, to be able to deliver the information I want my audience to know. I would like to keep what is mentioned in my title when I do a presentation of any kind.
