Presentation mistakes

In the lesson on 25th of September, we learned about what kind of slideshows we should make. Since we learned about the title slide in the previous 2 lessons, this time was about the information slides. What was explained by Mr.Paterson was close to what I used to do, however, there were lots to learn too.

We started off by watching the video made by Mr.Paterson, called "slideshow mistakes". I strongly agreed to the fact slides filled with letters are very boring, and hard to follow. Since that day, I came to be more sensitive to even how teachers make slides. So far, the best presentation was the Mr.Patersons', and almost all other teachers were filling the slide with letters, including more than 8 ideas at maximum. This relates to the couple of things we learned; 1 idea per slide, image related to the keywords, and amplification through simplification. 1 idea per slide is very easy to follow, as I can just put one idea, however, I thought it would be difficult to choose the best - describing keywords, as I am not very skilled at summarizing something into shorter phrases. 5 words looked good enough as a whole picture, not enough to describe the idea fully!
The video about presentations was interesting too. Especially when he talked interacting with ZEN, I felt the man is a very smart person. In terms of the speaking, I should practice waiting around 5 seconds before start speaking after clicking, as I mostly speak right after I click.

From the lesson, I realized that I must be practising the presentation many times before I actually present so that I can do well in my last assessment. It seems like we are learning about the same thing, but the information is different every time, allowing me to learn more and more! I want more teachers, (especially those who has bad presenting style) to learn about the stuff like these!
