Media deceives our understanding

On 5th of June's lesson, we started off with several video clips which clearly showed how media can deceive our understanding of an incident. Although we had been looking at this issue with lots of different examples quite a long time now, what I saw in today's lesson was also a shocking thing to learn. The first video clip was a girl (peaceful protestor) being pushed into a corner and with barriers so that she cannot runaway unless the police allow her to do so. This is a method called kettling. I've also learnt that this has an effect to traumatize the person's image about protesting so that they will never repeat it again in the future. After she was pushed aside, a guy (probably police) came right in front of her and sprayed a gas right in front of her face. I felt heartbroken, painful and furious all at the same time, like how I felt about the tear-gas spray protesting, that we saw 2 last week. Yet, I was not able to figure out the reason why police cannot be peaceful towards at least to peaceful protestors. The only reality I came to face was repulsive human actions when they are irritated. I felt the same thing for the student's demo, where a boy (who cannot move) was pushed off of a wheelchair. I haven't heard the name of the disease he had before, but I could not believe what the police had done. The BBC news tried to make the man on the wheelchair bad, just to protect the name and trust as a "Police" as the news cooperation is owned by the government, but to me, they were just a bunch of injustice -not a person of justice. I felt annoyed about the media's way of reporting. This incident clearly feared the handicaps from protesting, although they should have the protected, definitive right to protest. If this is not mentioned in the media, we cannot see the full picture of the scandal. Another thing I learnt was student's demo's "false evidence" being made up by the media's cooperation. A lot of the media had the same pictures, of a "student kicking the showcase/window" with "fire" behind, but this was all done on purpose, not the real scene of the incident. Human is a sad creature, I thought. For money, they would do anything -even deceiving their audience, and hurting so many victims.  I just thought I do not want to be an adult like that. In the website called Politicalcompass.org, we were provided with a variety of political dimensions. This website tested your political affiliation, through a quick survey. They analyze your data and pointing it on a coordinate, where the graph is divided into 4 parts; communism/collectivism, neo-liberalism, authoritarian and libertarian. The political leaders were more on the neo-liberalism and authoritarian side. These leaders are usually not very popular from the nations. However, leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, who was quite popular among the nations, were more of a libertarian and had the attribute of collectivism. I was almost in the middle. This means I do not have much of the strong feeling or thoughts about the political issues. I am thinking to ask someone older like my parents to try this survey, to see if there is any difference, as they are more acknowledged about the society. Today's lesson was full of leaning.
