In today’s lesson, we mainly worked in our individual groups, but before that, we looked at some of the
languages used in media. Mr.Paterson has taught us that media makes the article ( or news) sound as
positive as possible through a technique called "framing". When framing is used, the news articles sound
softer and as if it was like a good thing, even if the details of the story was cruel, astonishing, or ferocious.
This allows audiences to have a positive image about the news article, also allowing the company to
get "trust" that it does not write any bad things about a country or thing, leading to the profit. As we
looked through a person's twitter post which was defining a bunch of vocabs which has a different
meaning in media compared to the way we use it in our everyday lives. I was quite surprised by the
number of words that were mentioned in the list. The next time I read an article (from media), I would like
to focus more on words as such, so that I can get a better understanding of the article. Then, we moved
to the group task. In today's lesson, I created details on the "about" page, where I included the school's
info. (such as name, TEL no., address, etc) so that it looks more professional. While then, Chisaki and
Ryosei both worked on their own individual tasks because we did not have much to discuss as a group.
For the next lesson, I am thinking to do bits and pieces of work at home, so that we can use the class
time mainly for discussion. Honestly, I find this task a little challenging because I do not have much time,
and I think it's the same for everyone else too. That's why I must work efficiently with Google tools so
that I can finish everything on time!
