In today's lesson, I gained new understandings and knowledge in using google form. Although I have experiences in using them a several times in the past, there were many points I missed out or did not care much about before. I believe it was a very meaningful lesson, full of things we can remind ourselves in future tasks.
There are four main things I learned, in order to make a good survey. First of all, to make the survey nameless, so that the answers are more likely to be the honest feeling of the target. If the creator can identify who made a particular answer, the respondent may not answer truthfully. The second thing is to take the survey from a wide range of people. By "wide range" I mean includes the age, gender, nationality, class, and many other ways people can be classified with. When survey takes place in such way, it allows the creator of the survey to receive more answers. In this case, it is important to make a few survey forms to differentiate the answers. This way the surveys are made easy! Another thing is to not limit the answers. In the lesson, Mr.Paterson showed the example with the mac is the best and Microsoft is bad. I honestly felt this is an extreme example but, the learning behind it made me understand that it is always important to look at things from different point of views, in other words, from a third person's view. The last thing is to always make "other" section in the survey. This is necessary as there are cases where the respondent's thought is not exactly in the options made by the creators, they may have to force their opinion into one or the other. However, with the "other" section existing, it allows the survey to become more accurate. I am thinking to practice a little more on creating surveys keeping these points in mind. About the Google functions, I never knew that it has a data analyzing programme. This data was mainly graphs and charts, making it easy for the creators to find the patterns in the answers. I believe this will save more time, as I can spend more time not on analyzing but comprehending the data.
In conclusion, I really felt that Google forms are a handy method when collecting people's opinions. I am looking forward to utilizing this function by Google in my tasks! I probably should get myself more used to it so I will make sure to practice it as soon as possible!
